Keto Beginner Tips

Keto Beginner Tips

One of the hardest things about starting a Keto plan, is getting through the first week or so.  Let’s face it, the more you learn about eating a ketogenic diet, the more you realize it’s basically unlearning how you have been told and taught to eat — for like your entire life.

When, I first started eating a low carb keto diet, I began to realize just how many carbs I had really been eating and didn’t even realize. It seemed like Continue reading “Keto Beginner Tips”

Nutritious Green Carbs

Nutritious Green Carbs

Green Is The New Black – When it comes to delicious Low Carb & Keto Foods

Green carbs are one of the most over looked parts of eating a healthy keto diet.  There are many important vitamins and minerals that our bodies can benefit from without having to eat starchy vegetables like corn, squash, peas and sweet potatoes. Just one serving of these starchy vegetables can put you over your carb limit for the entire day, and spike your blood sugar.

Reminder of your GOAL: Maintain even blood sugar levels that won’t cause the insulin hormone to over produce. Starchy vegetables are out!

When I consider my total carb count for Continue reading “Nutritious Green Carbs”

Keto Bunny Cake

Keto Bunny Cake

A Low Carb Keto version of the traditional Bunny Cake is here!

(I will update this post after it’s decorated) UPDATED below – We will probably use berries, Lilly’s choc chips, nuts, and my keto icing recipe with some cream added – so it’s a little more soft.

UPDATE! – A larger picture is at the bottom of this post.  The kids used berries, Lilly’s chocolate chips and squares from the bars, and macadamia nuts (2 lol) for the teeth.  Great project for the kids to fill part of Easter Day! I’m thrilled that our family can keep this tradition going in a Low Carb Keto way!

Over the past year, I’ve experimented quite a bit with cakes and baking.  This basic yellow cake recipe is as good as it gets Keto Fam! Continue reading “Keto Bunny Cake”

Low Carb Icing

Low Carb Icing

There are several low carb cupcake and muffin recipes on the Internet, but i could never find a low carb icing recipe that I thought tasted good enough AND didn’t have that strange after taste.  I came up with this recipe and I’m pretty satisfied with it. #KetoHusband took a bite of a cupcake with this icing on it and gave me a strange look.  I was like OH NO! Why Left Overs Rock!

Why Left Overs Rock!

It’s not been that long ago that I hated left overs. I loathed left overs. I would find myself skipping meals because I didn’t want left overs. (Go figure, we now know skipping meals can actually be good lol) I’m not sure if it was because the food wasn’t all that good the first time around or I was just too lazy to get it out of the frig, heat it up, stir it, heat it up again – Maybe that was too much trouble. I don’t know. Funny how the mind works sometimes.

Since eating a Keto and Low Carb diet I have learned Continue reading “Why Left Overs Rock!”
